The 5th National GrandRally will elevate the critical role grandparents and other relatives play in providing safe, loving, permanent families for children and the policy changes needed to effectively support them while building and strengthening a community of hope.

The previous four GrandRallies effectively educated policy makers about the unique needs of the families and created momentum to pass key policies such as Fostering Connections for Success and LEGACY intergenerational housing. Even more importantly though, the GrandRally builds and strengthens a national network—a community of hope—recognizing and celebrating the essential role that relative caregivers play in providing permanency for children and youth. It provides an important opportunity to educate Members of Congress and their staff, the media and the general public while inspiring relative caregivers to raise their powerful voices in Washington, DC and back in their home states.

GrandRally: The 90 minute GrandRally on Capitol Hill will feature Members of Congress, successful caregivers and children in grandfamilies, and will highlight key advocacy messages relevant to a new Congress and Administration.

Visits with Members of Congress: Following the rally, caregivers will use the advocacy packets and training they receive in advance and meet with their Senators and Representatives to share facts about children being raised by relative caregivers, the permanency they provide and the help they need to be successful helping the children in their care thrive.

Advocacy Trainings & Celebration: For those arriving the day before, advocacy training will be offered followed by a dinner honoring the families.  Advocacy training will also be offered the morning of the rally and in advance of the rally via webinars and mailed materials. The virtual rally will be conducted throughout the day.
